Advanced Manufacturing System - AMS
P.O. FESR Puglia (ERDF Apulia) 2014–2020
Strategic investment programme dedicated to the creation and validation of an advanced production system. Regulation No. 17 of 30 September 2014. Title II – Chapter 2 “Aid for integrated programmes promoted by small enterprises”
SIADD - Innovative Systems for Additive Manufacturing
PNR (NRP) 2015-2020
A research project involving a broad partnership (DTA scarl - lead partner, CNR, ELFIM, ENEA, EnginSoft, GE AVIO, HB Technology, Novotech, Bari and Milan Polytechnics, Kore University of Enna, University of Salento, UMBRAGROUP) with an investment of over 7 million euro.*
The SIADD Project, through extensive research and experimentation, has made it possible to study, fine-tune and test new methodologies and technologies aimed at significantly reducing the defects inevitably generated by Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes, through the implementation of innovative solutions for monitoring the production process, the creation of a significant lightening of metal structures, and the in-depth study of the individual phases of the production processes with a focus on the design of materials, also simulating the manufacture of complex parts.
The results achieved are grouped by the 4 identified macro-categories:
- digital product optimisation tools;
- virtual data from product and process simulation;
- real data acquired from in-situ sensing;
- analysis of the environmental, economic and organisational sustainability of AM processes.
E-Park - Microgrid Parking: Smart parking for the Smart City
2018–2020
Project dedicated to the realisation of a smart car park for electric vehicles powered by renewable sources via a microgrid with the aim of reducing grid exchange, promoting urban electric mobility and the development of software systems for managing BESS.*
The project primarily aims to address the realisation of a smart car park for electric vehicles powered by renewable sources via a microgrid, designed to minimise grid exchange in order to promote the use of electric vehicles in cities as foreseen by environmental and Smart City objectives for global and local reduction of climate-altering emissions. The project primarily aims to address needs 1118, 1195, and 1300 in the Reference Domain of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, as expressed by the Municipality of Bari.
The following results were achieved during the project:
- Definition of end-user and project requirements with particular reference to the installation site, hardware and software characteristics of the system.
- Appropriate sizing of the devices that will constitute the Microgrid Parking.
- Definition of software for specific management and control objectives of the Microgrid Parking BESS.
- Definition of calculation programmes geared towards optimising the energy resources of the Microgrid Parking.
- Possibility to use the photovoltaic system and storage not only to store excess energy but also to provide controlled inertia services. The results showed the ability of the storage system, properly controlled, to provide ancillary services useful for the stability of the electricity grid itself.

EMERA - Integrated Lighting and Urban Mobility System
2018–2020
The objective of the Project is to strengthen the process of developing innovative interventions aimed at the ecological regeneration of urban environments from a Smart City perspective through the creation of new solutions for slow mobility and sustainable mobility through the implementation of a smart green mobility platform that will act as a collector of information flows from different sources and related to the management of the green vehicle fleet.*
Achievements:
- Study of regulations and state of the art;
- Definition of an integrated and interoperable platform for city 4.0 services and systems;
- Implementation of an integrated and interoperable platform for city 4.0 services and systems;
- Technology validation
The main result is the creation of a system characterised by lot elements, capable of guaranteeing services for mobility and environmental monitoring. In particular, the smart green mobility platform demonstrator was built and installed at the headquarters of the lead partner NITEKO.
